Battery
Battery cells are essential to modern life, as they are widely used in mobile phones,
personal computers, and, more recently, as power sources in automobiles.
To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050--reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions to net
zero--the global transition to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) is accelerating.
Research and development of rechargeable battery cells, which can be used repeatedly, is
progressing to support their use in BEVs and large-scale energy storage systems (ESS).
To enhance both the performance and quality of these battery cells, a variety of
high-performance analytical instruments are required for in-depth evaluation and
analysis.
JEOL offers a comprehensive lineup of analytical instruments for morphological observation,
surface analysis, structural analysis, and chemical analysis at micro- to nano-scales,
supporting research, development, and quality improvement.
In the following sections, we introduce analytical methods and examples of material analysis
related to batteries.
