Energy

Backscattered electron(BSE) compositional image (upper left) and elemental map (upper right: Al, lower left: Ca, lower right: Fe) of black ore (polished surface). In the BSE compositional image, differences in brightness indicate differences in average atomic number. The whitest area is dominated by Fe, and the light gray area shows the presence of medium amounts of Fe. The surrounding dark gray area is rich in Ca, and the even darker area in the lower right is rich in Al.
