Science Education Support

Support Activities through lectures and events

JEOL has been engaged in the Science Education Support since October of 2007, mainly in the neighboring schools. By bringing desktop electron microscopes into class, we are providing kids with opprtunities to experience the micro world, which is not possible with the naked eye or optical microscopes. We strongly hope that the participants experience the pleasure of discovery and develop a greater interest in science through these lectures.

JEOL "School of Science" in France

JEOL (EUROPE) SAS (Paris, France) implemented a science education support for inviting 22 students from a local junior high school, "Institut Culturel Franco-Japonais – Ecole Japonaise de Paris", in November 20, 2019. The students gained "hands-on" experience using Scanning Electron Microscopes of JSM-IT500HR, JSM-IT500 and JCM-7000.

With a theme of "Mysteries of Micro-World through Electron Microscopes", the students participated in a lecture and enjoyed a new experiment of the collaboration with Nikon. They had a play with the Scanning Electron Microscopes by themselves while comparing with a magnifying glass and a stereomicroscope, and experienced a microscopic world and the power of Scanning Electron Microscope.

This kind of activity is very meaningful because JEOL (EUROPE) SAS responded to a three-consecutive year request from the school. The activity inspires "scientific mind" in young students and hence, JEOL will continue the activities of science class support in Japan as well as overseas countries.
