thin section
thin section
“Thin section” means a section of a specimen thinned with an ultramicrotome. The thickness of a thin section is 100 nm or less. Using SEM, the thin section is observed with a transmitted electron image or a backscattered electron image. For the observation of the transmitted electron image, the specimen is mounted on a specimen grid for TEM. For the observation of the backscattered electron image, the specimen is mounted on a silicon substrate or a glass plate.
It is noted that when the contrast of the backscattered electron image is reversed, a similar contrast to the transmitted electron image is obtained.
It is noted that when the contrast of the backscattered electron image is reversed, a similar contrast to the transmitted electron image is obtained.
