Research conducted by the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials at Tohoku University, in collaboration with JEOL, has resulted in an article published in “Nature Nanotechnology”

Release Date: 2025/05/08

The research carried out at the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials at Tohoku University, in collaboration with JEOL, has been published in Nature Nanotechnology.
This research content stems from a collaborative effort involving Tohoku University, AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), the University of Osaka, and others.
The distribution of hydrogen and deuterium in organic materials has been successfully identified at a single-molecule scale and is expected to aid in identifying molecules and bonding positions through a novel electron spectroscopy technique.
The research was conducted using JEOL’s transmission electron microscope with a monochromator (JEOL 3C#2) at the University of Osaka.

Nanoscale C–H/C–D mapping of organic materials using electron spectroscopy

* This research was conducted with the support of Japan Science and Technology Agency’s Strategic Basic Research Programs, CREST(JPMJCR1993, JPMJCR20B1), and PRESTO(JPMJPR2009).
