The York JEOL Nanocentre officially opened at the University of York, Yorkshire, UK, on April 27, 2007, a new milestone for JEOL in Europe.
The inauguration was attended by senior officials of the school and JEOL: Prof. Cantor, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gai, Center Director, Prof. Boyes, Mr. Harada, CEO of JEOL Ltd., Mr. Ishida, Director, and Mr. Hepburn, CEO of JEOL UK.
Guests at the opening, which celebrated the birth of a new nanotechnology research institute in Europe, included Mr. Riordan, Governor of Yorkshire County, and Mr. Takaoka, Minister of the Japanese Embassy in UK.
The center will utilize a number of JEOL products such as JEM-2200FS with in column energy filter and Cs corrector, the most sophisticated FE transmission electron microscope, SM-7000FE scanning electron microscope, and JSPM-5200 scanning probe microscope, for nano level materials research in a wide range of applications from electronics to medicine.
