FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prof. Hiroshi Jinnai of Kyoto Institute of Technology was awarded the Ernst Ruska prize of 2007. Recognized for his work in 3D quantitative analysis of polymers in electron microscopy, Prof. Jinnai was the first Japanese recipient of the award.
The award, named after Ernst Ruska, the father of electron microscopy and 1986 Nobel prize winner for the invention of electron microscopes, is a prestigious international prize for electron microscopy established in 1981 by the German Society of Electron Microscopy every 2 years (initially every 4 years). In the past quarter of the century, 20 scientists received the award including the 3 winners from Japan, US, and UK in 2007.
